The PSSA has just finished hosting the 2021 ATA Eastern Zone Shoot. Attendance at this event was very strong with only Friday’s handicap being less than 2019, which was the last time the PSSA last hosted this event. That being said, every other event saw an increase.
The 2021 Pennsylvania State shoot was also a success! Championship events were up 4%. Weather was fantastic for the entire shoot, and attendance was up in all but one event from Wednesday onward. Attendance was however down in both the Colonial Classic and preliminary days, which we attribute to the availability and cost of ammunition. Again we would like to thank Krieghoff International for sponsoring the Krieghoff Challenge and congratulate Mark Ferdinand from Drums, Pennsylvania who was the winner of the Krieghoff Combo.
On Thursday of this year’s State Shoot we held the first annual fundraising ticket drawing which turned out to be an overwhelming success. Many winners graciously donated their winnings back to the PSSA and we are very grateful! Tickets for the 2022 raffle are already printed, and Steve Miller has tickets available at this time. The plan for next year is to conduct the raffle drawing after the Krieghoff Challenge and Event shoot-offs on Friday. A dinner may be the works also, stay tuned.
The PSSA would like to thank Line Mountain and Geiser Guns for providing ammunition for the State Shoot. Geiser Guns also provided ammo for the PA. Grand and the ATA Eastern Zone Shoot as well. The availability of ammunition at these events undoubtedly played a large role in the success of these events.
Lastly, the 2021 Pennsylvania Grand saw attendance down in all events. We believe it was a combination of rainy weather and the shell shortage. The event did however run smoothly despite of this, and we have big plans for this event in future years.
In closing, we would like to wish good shooting and safe travels for those attending the Grand American and hope to see you at the 2021 Westy Hogan’s which will be held September 10,11,12.
