Dear Shooters,
I would like to welcome you to the 2022 Pennsylvania State Shoot! We are looking forward to an exciting year with many new prizes, and another enjoyable summer of competition here at the PSSA.
At this year’s State Shoot we will have a new prize, an E-Z Go golfcart. There are two ways to play: there will be a $5.00 option on every event, and if you desire to have more chances at the prize, you may purchase additional tickets from the Help Desk.
We are excited to again have a large turnout of youth shooters from the SCTP and AIM organizations. They will primarily be competing in the Colonial Classic Singles Championship held both Saturday and Sunday the first weekend of the State Shoot. Please support our youth shooters whenever possible.
John C “Jack” Deisher Memorial Lewis Class:
The Family of Mr. Deisher have generously donated $9000 to be Awarded via Lewis Class. It will be 3 Classes, Divided 60/40% in each class, to all Shooters who complete the PA State Shoot Event #13 John C “Jack” Deisher Memorial Singles. Jack and his Family have been longtime supporters of the PSSA and wanted to continue his Legacy by giving something to the Shooters who continue to support the PSSA. The PSSA wishes to thank his Family for this very generous donation.
Another highlight of the shoot is the Vintage Shoot, which will be held Wednesday evening after the shoot-offs have concluded for the evening. See Pam Darroch in the HOF for details and to sign up. Ladies’ activities and day trips are planned for during PSSA events. Details are also in the HOF.
The 2022 Fundraising Raffle drawing will be held on Friday June 17th after the completion of the Krieghoff Challenge and the day’s shoot-offs. This event will be held on the front porch of the clubhouse.
The annual meeting of the PSSA will be held on Friday June 17th. The meeting will be held promptly at 8:00am, and regardless of the completion of the meeting, the Krieghoff Handicap will begin at 10:00am.
The shining jewel of the shoot as always is the Krieghoff Handicap on Friday June 17th and the Krieghoff Challenge shoot-off following completion of the event. This is the 18th year Krieghoff has donated a Trap Special Combo to the winner of that shoot-off. The Krieghoff Handicap is the largest event of our shooting season at Elysburg and now ranks as one of the largest handicap events in the entire United States. The PSSA would again like to thank Dieter Krieghoff, Alex Diehl and everyone at Krieghoff International for their continued support.
The final weekend of the State Shoot begins with the Singles Championship on Saturday June 18th. At the completion of the event, the 2022 Hall of Fame induction, 2022 Trapshooter of the Year award, and 2022 PA State Team awards are presented. This will then be followed by the shoot-offs for the Singles Championship.
As was done last year, Sunday morning will begin with the Doubles Championship followed by the Handicap Championship.
