About the PSSA

The Pennsylvania State Sportsmen’s Association.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission evolved from the PSSA in 1895.

Organized on August 2, 1890 in Corry, Pennsylvania.
Our first Pennsylvania State Shoot was held at Williamsport from Sept. 29 to Oct. 2, 1891. It has been held every year since then, except for the war year of 1945.

Our homegrounds are  located in Elysburg, PA, home of the largest State Shoot in the United States and also one of the largest shoots in the world. We also sponsor the Keystone Open in May, the Colonial Classic in June, the Pennsylvania Grand in July and the Westy Hogans in September. We also hold the ATA Eastern Zone Shoot every other year.
